Oris unveils the Kelp Forest Limited Edition

Dubai, UAE, 20 October 2026: Oris is proud to unveil the Kelp Forest Limited Edition, a timepiece inspired by the beauty of kelp forests and their vital role in sustaining marine ecosystems. Marking a return to the oceans, this release represents the next chapter in Oris’s decades-long commitment to ocean conservation, continuing the brand’s efforts to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environments that sustain our planet.

Kelp forests are among the ocean’s most productive ecosystems, absorbing carbon, producing as much as 2% of the world’s oxygen and providing nourishment and shelter for a wide variety of marine life. Yet rising ocean temperatures and overharvesting have placed these underwater habitats under increasing threat, with significant declines recorded in several regions around the world. The Kelp Forest Limited Edition was inspired by Oris ambassador and award-winning underwater photographer Francis Pérez, whose more than 25 years of experience documenting the underwater world have given him a firsthand perspective on the changes affecting marine environments. Through this release, Oris continues its efforts to raise awareness of the challenges facing our oceans, guided by the belief that meaningful change begins with collective action.

The Kelp Forest Limited Edition translates this story into a distinctive design inspired by the movement and colours of kelp beneath the surface. Its ocean-green dial features a specially developed 3D-printed texture, creating variations of green and gold that evoke kelp swaying in underwater currents. Golden outlines around the luminous hands and hour markers complement the dial, adding depth and warmth to the design as it catches the light. Housed in a 41.50 mm stainless steel case and paired with a stainless steel three-link bracelet, the watch combines the purposeful design of the Aquis Date with the distinctive character of this special edition. At its heart is the Oris Calibre 733, a Swiss Made automatic movement featuring a date function and a 41-hour power reserve.

On the reverse, the case back is engraved with a kelp motif alongside the individual limited-edition number, reinforcing the connection between the timepiece and the natural world that inspired it. Limited to 1,000 pieces, the Kelp Forest Limited Edition continues Oris’s longstanding commitment to ocean conservation, bringing greater attention to the vital role kelp forests play in sustaining marine ecosystems and helping to mitigate climate change. Inspired by the beauty and fragility of these underwater habitats, the timepiece reflects Oris’s belief that raising awareness and working together are essential to protecting our planet for future generations.
